HOW MANY PASSENGERS CAN YOU CARRY IN A LIMOUSINE?
The maximum number of passengers permitted in a standard limousine is 8 plus the chauffeur (please ask
the company for details). It is illegal to carry any paying passengers in the front passenger seat of the
limousine. Small children or babies are still classed as one passenger.
ARE PRICES BASED ON THE HIRE OF THE LIMOUSINE OR PER PERSON?
Hire prices are based on the hire of the limousine, not the number of passengers travelling.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL HIRE PACKAGE?
Each of our hire packages are tailor made to suit your personal requirements. Although a minimum hire
charge is applicable, within reason, there are no restrictions on hire time. Times may not be altered on the
night/ day of the booking.
WHY DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM CHARGE?
Limousines provide an exclusive service and our clients expect quality for their money. Each of our
limousines are fully valeted before each hire period and this may take between 1 - 3 hours. It is therefore not
cost effective to send out our limousines for less than the minimum hire charge.
WHY ARE LIMOUSINES SO EXPENSIVE TO HIRE AND WHY DO THE COSTS VARY SO MUCH BETWEEN
DIFFERENT COMPANIES?
The answer to these questions are very simple. Most operators invest anything from £18,000 up to ££100,000
on each of their limousines. The hire prices have a great deal to do with the amount invested in the vehicle.
Of course an £18,000 limousine will never compare in quality to that of a brand new £80,000+ vehicle and
thus the higher the investment the more it will cost you to hire. As the saying goes " you get what you pay
for". You would never hire the cheapest cosmetic surgeon to carry out your risky operation would you?
Surprisingly this is exactly how 80% of clients will shop for their limousines and all too often their dreams are
shattered by a sub standard limousine or service. There is a very significant difference between a Smart Car
and a Ferrari and limousines are no different. Many UK limousines may have covered as much as 200k miles
are their reliability can be questionable. Although often maintained, signs of aging can be very evident in
some vehicles, such as rust, torn seats and carpets etc. The following scenarios have been reported by real
clients and are all prime examples of what can happen if you choose your limousine unwisely...
Example 1) You found a limousine that was £50 cheaper than the next company. They told you that it was
only 2 years old, however the limousine arrived late, it was covered in rust, the seats were ripped, and the
chauffeur was wearing a polo shirt and jeans. Never mind...you did save £50!
Example 2) You found a limousine that was £20 cheaper than the next company. You hired a brand new
limousine for your wedding but when it arrived it was an old box shape, the chauffeur did not know how to
get to your venue and you were late. When you finally arrived you were too embarrassed to get out of the
car! Never mind...you did save £20!
Example 3) You found a limousine that was £20 cheaper than the next company. You and your friends have
clubbed together for you school leavers ball. After shopping around you found the cheapest deal and have
all paid a deposit of £20 each. One day before your prom the company has phoned and said that you have
been double booked. You don't seem to be able to get an answer on the telephone from the company you
booked with, so now you have no limousine no refund and all of the other limousine companies are booked.
Never mind....you did save £20!
Of course the above scenarios do not happen often but rest assured.... they do happen. The limousine hire
market is highly competitive and some operators will use any means they can to obtain your business. Sadly
this can be a costly mistake to the client and detrimental to the whole industry. There are 3 golden rules to
follow when hiring a limousine for your special occasion:
1) Always take the time to go and view your limousine before you make a decision on price alone.
2) Always make sure that you have signed a hire contract. A hire contract is for your protection as a
consumer. Always ask for a receipt for any payments made.
3) Never choose a limousine because it is the cheapest deal. You are at risk of disappointment.
HOW CAN I TELL THE AGE OF MY LIMOUSINE?
The vast majority of limousines in the UK are Ford Lincoln Towncars. Most companies will operate
"Millennium Models". Sadly as with all industry's, clients often fall prey to the 'not so honest operator' that
will advertise their limousines as being much newer models than they actually are. Limousines have gone
through many cosmetic changes over the years and it is often difficult to tell the age of your limousine if it is
displaying a personalised number plate. The following photographs will help you to identify the approximate
age of the limousine you are planning to hire.
ARE ALL LIMOUSINES THE SAME?
Although many limousines look very similar on the outside, there are significant differences to the interiors.
There are many companies in the USA that stretch limousines (known as coach builders) and their designs
can vary drastically. One limousine may have a very classical look and some may be more glamorous. The
seating configuration may be different and the facilities may differ. Always research the quality of your
limousine, before deciding on price alone.
CAN I SMOKE IN THE LIMOUSINES?
The simple answer to this is no. You would never expect to be allowed to smoke in a taxi, coach or bus let
alone a £60,000 limousine, so a strict no smoking policy applies to our whole fleet, with no exceptions.
DO YOU SELL ALCOHOL?
We do not sell alcohol as we are not licensed to do so. A complimentary magnum of bubbly is supplied for
each journey (18+ only). Clients may bring an extra bottle into the limousine by prior arrangement.
DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT?
Due to a sharp increase in 'prank' calls all clients are required to pay a deposit upon booking. Deposits are
non-refundable, so we urge clients to 'be sure' before making a booking.
ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE?
We offer discounts in quieter periods, between Monday to Thursday and discounts for bookings of two
limousines or more.
HOW EARLY DO I NEED TO BOOK?
As soon as possible. Saturdays are by far the most popular hire times and our limousines are often booked 5 -
6 months in advance. For functions such as weddings and race days the limousines can often be booked as
early as 12 months in advance. Many clients are often disappointed when they attempt book 2- 3 days before
their special event. Quotations issued by email or telephone are not classed as a provisional booking, so if
you are sure that you wish to proceed with hire, it is advisable to secure your date with a deposit
immediately.
DO I NEED TO SIGN ANYTHING?
Clients who have confirmed that they wish to proceed with a booking are required to complete a hire
contract. These contracts are not only required to protect The Company and their vehicles, but it also protects
your consumer rights. Should you decide to choose a company that does not issue a hire contract, you are at
high risk of your limousine not turning up for your special event and more importantly, never seeing your
deposit again.
CAN I CANCEL MY LIMOUSINE?
All deposits are non - refundable, except under special circumstances. If you are considering booking a
limousine you should consider the following points very carefully. If there are other passengers contributing
to the fee, will they pay? Or simply, are you sure of your dates and times? When you secure your limousine
with a deposit, this effectively ensures that your chosen company will turn away any other work for that
vehicle and therefore refunding your deposit is not possible.
WHAT IF I AM LATE FOR MY COLLECTION?
We ask all clients to be on time for both their collections and returns. Each limousine may have several
bookings in one evening and being late for your collection/ return can cause a devastating 'domino effect' to
the next client. We would never consider being late for your collection for your special occasion, so we ask
our clients to be considerate to the chauffeurs and adhere to the terms of their hire contract at all times.
CAN WE HAVE SEVERAL PICK UPS AND DROP OFFS?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions in the limousine trade. Limousines do not operate like a
taxi. All hire packages are quoted on one collection address and one return address initially. Several
collections/ returns can be extremely difficult, if not impossible, due to the size and maneuverability of a
limousine. Many clients do not realise that their addresses may be inaccessible, due to narrow roads, sharp
bends, congested parking by other road users, or rural settings. On an early morning return from a nightclub,
8 drop off points can take a considerable amount of extra time and can not be conducted without charge. For
your personal safety and that of our limousines, all collection and return points must be planned carefully in
advance of your booking date. If in doubt please ask a member of staff at the time of your enquiry.
OUR 'ZERO 'TOLERANCE' RULE
Our zero tolerance rule applies to all clients and bookings. Whilst our priority is that all clients should enjoy
their limousine experience, our strict policy is that our limousines and our chauffeurs are to be respected at
all times. Whilst a chauffeur's position depicts that he should respect and pamper the client, he is however an
employee of The Company and not the client and therefore works to a strict code of practice laid down by
The Company. Abusive language and behaviour will not be tolerated at any time and as per the Terms &
Conditions document signed upon booking, our chauffeurs have to authority to terminate your booking or
remove a passenger from the limousine, should they consider that the behaviour is unsuitable, or poses a risk
to other passengers or the vehicle. These guidelines are set for both the protection of The Company and its
vehicles and also for the client.
